Share Your Brampton Stories

Hi Lynne, This summer I met your parents at a celebration of life for a mutual friend. Your mother mentioned that you were writing a book about Brampton. That is of interest to me as my father had a business there- Page Bros Prods Ltd. He and his brother manufactured soaps and industrial chemicals. I still have some of their products, which included personal soap papers, and this in the 50s.

I think that Page Bros. was established in the late 30s or the early 40s. Prior to that my father and uncle had a service station at Bloor and the Kingsway. One of their friends described them stirring some sort of concoction in a large vat with an oar. I guess they decided that they needed a true factory for their products and set up on Sheard Avenue in Brampton. I remember the sleepy village of that time- the four corners and the Dixie Cup plant.

I also remember visiting a family friend at Dixie and Dundas, a beautiful country scene with trees, meadows, and streams. How times have changed.
